The 2006 "Entrepreneur of
the Year" by the 
Guilderland Chamber of Commerce, Mark
Grimm's unique blend of senior level experience
in business, media, politics, and government
produces results for his clients. Mark was
also nominated for "Trainer-of-the-Year" by the
regional chapter of the American Society of
Training and Development.
Media:
Mark's 12-year TV news career (1981-88 & 1992-94)
as an anchor/reporter and producer spanned six markets. Mark
conducted
one-on-one interviews with Presidents Bush and Clinton;
appeared
on CBS News and the Phil Donahue Show;
saw
news ratings double as anchor at Denver's NBC-owned station.
Mark has appeared often as a media and/or political
analyst for Capital Region media outlets and is the weekly host
of the Siena
Alumni Connection radio program.
Politics:
In November of 2007, Mark was elected to the Guilderland Town Board.
He was the leading vote getter in a four-way race that unseated
two entrenched incumbents.
Mark has managed six political campaigns, including one in the Rensselaer
County Legislature where a first-time candidate defeated an eight-year
incumbent.
Government:
Grimm was a senior communications executive for
seven years in state government. As Director of Communications
Services in the state Assembly, he
managed
22 employees in four units;
coordinated
statewide public forums; and
did
media training for Assembly legislators and candidates.
From 1995-1998, Mark was Special Assistant to
the Director at the Governor's Office of Regulatory Reform.
Mark
was
the driving force behind an office-wide database that tracked
key results such as actual savings from regulatory reform; and
his
"What's Driving You Nuts" form became a popular feedback
tool
resonating with frustrated business owners statewide.
Professor
Grimm:
Mark is an adjunct journalism professor at Siena
and has taught media courses at the College of St. Rose.
Education:
Mark has a master's degree in communications from Syracuse University's
Newhouse School and is a magna cum laude Siena graduate, where he
was named the Conlin Scholar, the college's top honor for English
majors.
Volunteer
Work:
Mark is President of the Stevens Farm Homeowners Association on
West Lydius St. He was a founding committee member for Operation
Welcome Home --- established during the 1991 Persian Gulf War to
help provide a successful homecoming experience for returning vets.
Mark is a member of the Hudson-Mohawk chapter of the American Society
of Training and Development, Guilderland Chamber of Commerce, and
Talent Guild International.
